Meet Sarah, My Daughter

(I'm Blessed To Be Her Daddy,KJ )

March 13, 2017

When the opportunity to return to Boston came about, the first thing that popped into my mind was Children's Hospital. The first reason was because it was the hotel I stayed in before I found a place in Hyde Park. The second reason is because of my youngest daughter Sarah.

My wife Regina and I have always had discussions about the places we would live and how they graded on addressing children's extensive needs (surgical especially). Sarah was born 2lb 1oz, and spent nearly 4 months in the NICU. Sarah was born with about 20 minutes to live, and my wife nearly died giving birth to her.

After Sarah was able to walk some on her own, we began our crusade with The March of Dimes "March For Babies" campaign back in NC. For us, our lives immediately became about service and this mission.

Back to the second Boston opportunity.

When the call came, the first thing I said to my wife was "Boston ranks the highest." The Universe proved itself even more when my wife wanted to watch a movie with Queen Latifah and Jennifer happened to be about a child whose mom did everything she could to get her daughter to Boston for medical care.

I felt like I won the lottery for my daughter's health.

Here's Sarah now (5 years old)! For more on her story and our mission as a family click here:
